What is a conlang?

A conlang is a constructed language. It's just a short name for a language that someone, or some group of people, have made up.

 

Who can make a conlang?

Anyone can make their own language, for free! You don't need a license, and you don't have to be good at foreign languages, either. The only thing you really need is a willingness to invent new ways of saying things.

 

Why do people make conlangs?

  1. To invent new ways of saying the same old things.
  2. To invent ways of saying entirely new things.
  3. To communicate secretly with friends or loved ones.
  4. To explore how we might communicate better.
  5. To understand whether and how much language affects our thinking.
  6. To make something beautiful.
